Indications:
Liver and Kidney Yin deficiency with upflaring fire presenting with malar flush, night sweats, hot flashes, five palms heat, sensation of heat in the knees and legs, steaming bone syndrome, tidal or low-grade fever, restlessness, irritability, insomnia, nightmares, dry mouth, thirst, chronic throat pain due to deficiency heat that is worse in the afternoon, evening, or when fatigued, bleeding gums, loose teeth, dizziness, tinnitus, weakness and pain in the low back or knees, spermatorrhea, nocturnal emissions, cough with blood, indeterminate gnawing hunger. Plum Flower Chinese Herbal Formula
Dosage:
Standard Dosage: 8 pills, 3 x day.
Clinical Dosage: Administer half an hour before or one hour after eating. In severe cases or in the initial phases of treatment, dosage may be increased to 8-12 pills 3 times per day, then reduced to a maintenance dose as the treatment takes effect. For patterns associated with insomnia 8-16 pills may be taken before bed. May be used long-term for several weeks to several months. May be used over the course of several years. Monitor for signs of Spleen Qi deficiency. For weakened digestion with a tendency to dampness or phlegm, it may be administered with Bao He San/Wan or Xiang Sha Liu Jun Zi San/Wan.

Contraindications:
Contraindicated during pregnancy. Contraindicated during the early stages of acute illness such as cold and flu, or during an acute infection. Contraindicated for conditions due to excess heat.
