Indications:
External wind cold dampness invasion with underlying Qi deficiency presenting with high fever and severe chills without sweating, chills more than fever, shivering, aversion to wind, pain and stiffness of head and neck, occipital headache, generalized body aches, nasal congestion or runny nose with clear mucus, epigastric fullness, fullness of the chest, cough and possibly wheezing with profuse white phlegm. Plum Flower Chinese Herbal Formula
Dosage:
Standard Dosage: 8 pills, 3 x day.
Clinical Dosage: For children 2-5 years old 1/3 adult dose, 5-10 years old half adult dose, 11 years old and up 2/3 to full adult dose. Administer half an hour before or one hour after eating. In acute or severe disorders, dosage may be increased to 8-12 pills every 2-4 hours, then reduced to a maintenance dose as the treatment takes effect. Pills may be taken with hot ginger tea or rice and ginger porridge to encourage sweating. Or administration may be followed by a hot bath. May be used short-term for few days to a few weeks. Once acute exterior signs are resolved, this formula should be discontinued and long-term treatment be continued with an appropriate constitutional formula, such as Yu Ping Feng Wan or Shen Qi Wu Wei Zi Wan.

Contraindications:
Contraindicated for conditions due to wind heat. Contraindicated for conditions due to excess heat. Use with caution during pregnancy.
