Indications:
Qi, Yin and/or Yang deficiency possibly with concurrent phlegm or heat toxins. Used for Lung Qi deficiency presenting with chronic cough, chest congestion, shortness of breath, white phlegm and recurrent common colds and flu. Also for Heart and Kidney Qi and Yin deficiency presenting with fatigue, forgetfulness, poor concentration, anxiety, palpitations and insomnia. Modern Chinese research has shown it to be effective in reducing the symptoms and signs of aging such as lack of energy, aversion to cold, diarrhea, poor memory, decreased balance. Plum Flower Chinese Herbal Formula
Dosage:
Standard Dosage: 3 pills, 3 x day.
Clinical Dosage: Administer half an hour before or after eating, or with food to facilitate digestion of meals. In severe cases or in the initial phases of treatment, dosage may be increased to 3-5 pills 3 times per day, then reduced to a maintenance dose as the treatment takes effect. May be used medium to long-term, for several weeks to several months. This formula may be administered with an appropriate constitutional formula for long-term treatment. Several weeks of administration may be necessary before results are noticeable.

Ingredients:
Gynostemma pentaphyllum herb. - Jiao gu lan.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated during the early stages of acute illness such as cold and flu, or during an acute infection. Contraindicated for hemorrhagic disorders. Use with caution in patients on anti-coagulant therapy. Jiao gu lan/gynostemma may cause drowsiness and sedation in some patients, individuals taking this herb should exercise caution in driving and operating heavy machinery. Jiao gu lan/gynostemma has been associated with potential side effects such as fatigue, lack of energy, dizziness, chest congestion, mild fever, perspiration, sore throat, rash, increased respiration rate.
