Indications:
Blood, Yin or Jin Ye (body fluid) deficiency causing moderate to severe constipation. Description:
Plum Flower Chinese Herbal Formula
Dosage:
Standard Dosage: 8 pills, 3 x day.
Clinical Dosage: Administer half an hour before or one hour after eating. It is recommended to begin with administering 4 pills 2-3 times per day to be gradually increased until a smooth bowel movement is achieved. May be used medium-term for a few weeks to a few months. In some cases, particularly where constipation has been chronic and prolonged, this process can take up to one or two years. Except in such cases, this formula is not meant for long-term use as patients can habituate to its laxative effects. Once constipation has been relieved, this formula should be discontinued and replaced with an appropriate constitutional formula, or combined with an appropriate constitutional formula, as patients can habituate to senna and rhubarb's laxative effect. Monitor for signs of Spleen Qi deficiency.

Ingredients:
Cassia angustifolia leaf, Cannabis sativa seed, Prunus persica seed, Angelica sinensis root, Notopterygium incisium root, Rheum palmatum root. - Fan xie ye, Huo ma ren, Tao ren, Dang gui, Qiang huo, Da huang.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated during pregnancy and menstruation. Use with caution in breast-feeding women as Da huang/rhubarb can pass through the breast milk causing colic and diarrhea in infants. Use with caution in patients with a history of heavy menstrual bleeding, GI bleeding or with hemorrhoids as Fan Xie Ye promotes blood circulation to the lower body. May cause mild abdominal cramping in sensitive patients. Contraindicated for very weak or deficient patients, as Fan xie ye/senna and Da huang/rhubarb combined are a very strong purgative. Contains tree nuts.
